Al`s Famous Pizza in San Antonio

One of the best pizza restaurants in the Tampa Bay area.

Pizza was okay. Not great, but not bad either. I had the 12" Margherita, and my co-worker had the lunch special: 2 slices - one Cuban, one buffalo chicken. Both of his slices looked over-cooked and un-imaginative. My pie was cooked to perfection, but just did not hit me in the face with flavor. Again, just average pizza, but the price was good, and the portions were plenty. Service was awesome too.

My wife and I visited Al's Famous Pizza on a weekday evening looking for an outdoor dining experience with the kids. We were not disappointed! The outdoor tables underneath patio lights and oak trees was just the laid back experience we needed with the kids. I could also see how, when the venue is utilized for live music, it would be a fantastic addition to the dining experience. Al's had room to move around or play corn hole and the pizza was top notch. We ordered a basic pepperoni pizza with perfectly cooked crust and the classic oozy cheese necessary for a pizza place. A+

Pizza is great. We used to order from them all the time until they change owners and now have restricted deliveries to 6 miles. Not so happy with them anymore.

Wow !!! Like Amazing!!! Had the lunch special, $5 for two slices of pizza and a drink. We had the pepperoni pizza and it was incredible!!! What a great location, great ambiance, service was awesome & YES the pizza was BOOMING!!! Great outside area to enjoy the beautiful weather and food, we didn't have the salads but saw some being delivered to another table and they were huge!!! Looked amazing!!!

Always good, love the pizza...BUT I must say, quite disappointed to hear Wing Wednesdays have been discontinued. I heard others, both in the restaurant and for take out sharing the same feelings.

First experience under new ownership 5/15/19- picked up order. Garlic bread was burnt. Next time I’d check before leaving..

Staff not wearing masks! Great food. But they are not following CDC or state guidelines for the safety of customers. 🙁

Nice hand tossed crust

Food is delicious!! We had the Cubano Pizza and it was better than any cuban sandwich I have had in a while. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is casual and laid back.

Super good food, super friendly people. The mac and cheese bites are amazing and the pizza sauce is some of the best I've had! I work down the road at the university so I'll definitely be back!

Staff is friendly. I've been twice to this location. First time we ordered pizza, it tasted good but was very greasy. Our second visit we ordered 6 bone-in wings, and 6 boneless wings. Mind you, they don't come with anything but sauce, no celery/carrots or French fries which is fine, but took 40 minutes to get our 12 wings and they were not busy, we even saw one of the cooks on his phone in the back. Also, the boneless wings taste like cheap frozen chicken nuggets. I doubt we will go back.

I enjoyed my favorite veggie margherita pizza with anchovies and a refreshing spritzer raspberry lime. Always a great pleasure service and staff totally awesome.

Fast fresh pizza and beautiful staff

I wanted to like this place. Very convenient, I livein San an. Very friendly service and they tried to rectify my first experience here, which was poor. They credited me money back and gave me a gift card to come back and try again. A+ for effort. Their menu is confusing in how they upcharge you for cauliflower crust. That is 1 issue I had. The first pizza I had also came the wrong size and cold. I just ordered pickup and assumed that it would hopefully be hotter. I also ordered it well done. Unfortunately the pizza came barely passing as fully cooked and definitely not well done. Photos below of a “well done” pizza.

Awesome service! We had the cuban pizza and it was delicious! Best sweet tea too! Will definitely be back. 😊😊

Wait is a little longer than expected, but always worth it. They clearly use authentic ingredients and have great pizza and calzones.

Customer service is absolutely horrible. Learn how to run a restaurant. Take care of the community that will keep you afloat. Used to get food from here twice to three times a week. Now it is absolutely horrible

Love the environment, the people are nice! They give military discount and 1st responders discounts too so that’s nice 😊 the food came at good timing as well.

Pizza was fresh and decent flavor. However, no one greeted us for about 5 minutes (even though 2 girls saw us). Then after receiving our pizza we asked if we could have silverware; the young girl chatting with her guy friend said, oh you can get it over there. I’m sure they just need a little advice on customer service. Lots of tvs playing different sports channels and good music.

The kids like the activities. The wings are great! Convenient location.

Delicious pizza and awesome service. Stopped in recently for a quick bite and all was perfect. Not sure what one of the guys who reviewed was talking about regarding an up charge for Cauliflower crust. This is normal just about anywhere you go if you want something other than a standard pizza crust. He must be a habitual complainer. We will definitely add Al’s to our rotation.

Just left having dinner here for the first time, even though our breadsticks and salad never made it out with our dinner and we did have to get it to go. The white pizza is amazing. Would recommend to anyone. The pizza was amazing. The service could be alot better as there was not enough staff. We will definitely give it another try soon.

They USED to have the best Greek salad I’ve ever had. Would get them 2-3 times a week. Their homemade potato salad was the star of it. The last 2 time’s I ordered it, they now use some store bought potato salad and it’s HORRIBLE. I thought maybe they just ran out the first time, but a few weeks later same thing. Also their Stromboli used to be awesome as well, but they were also mediocre at best the last 2 times (esp for $10.99). Sorry, but you’ve lost a customer due to your cost cutting measures, which sucks because you USED take pride in your food.

Came in for wings and a large pizza.Was going to order Large 1/2 meat 1/2 supreme. Unfortunately they charge you by the topping instead of the $17.99 on the menu when you ask for 1/2 and 1/2.So my pizza was going to cost a lot more $$$ because of it.Ok, no pizza then.Wings were good, but if you're going to charge extra for celery, should be more than 3 pieces I would think.Oh they also charge extra if you want ranch or blue cheese too.At least they didn't charge for water!Beer would have been great too, but passed on since no pizza!Moral of the story is, all your upcharge!Well, you can add it up. Just wings +.50 cents celery + .50 cents blue cheese. Just cost you 25 -30 bucks in pizza and beer that wasn't ordered!Oh and don't forget to add the customer you just lost too!!

Top notch pizza, crust was perfect, setting is perfect... love that this place is around the corner from our house. I tried New York New York, I tried Best New York pizza of WC and the rest in Wesley Chapel nothing is even close. Thank you, we will be back, looking forward to listening to some live music here soon.

First time here. Very cute place with friendly service. Pizza was great. Ordered half pepperoni and half supreme. Hot and cheezy.

I don't often give five stars. in fact, it's rare. But Al's famous pizza hits the mark. Not only are all of their menu options great but their pizza, and their wings blew me away. Not to mention, they don't use some frozen gluten-free crust that they've ordered from some warehouse. They actually use cauliflower crust that hits the spot, it is keto friendly. It's definitely worth checking out and the staff is super friendly.

Great food and service. Cool spot. Food came out to the table a little backwards... App came out after the pizza but, overall still amazing.

Update from my Facebook post, a couple weeks ago.**Owner contacted me right away after seeing my disappointment in my review, and apologized with an offer of my money back, and to try them again, so we returned on Saturday ate outside andtand waitress was very nice and friendly and the food was 100% better... Thank you so much Emilee We will definitely be returning again.

First the lady says they deliver withing a 6 mile radius.... great only 4 miles radius... but its 6.4 driving distance... my driveway is .4 miles.... offer to meet at the end of driveway... not able to do it.... good pizza but over priced... world famous... haha outside of san Ann the place is unheard of... what makes it safer to deliver to house then the end of a driveway... it's a mobile home would you deliver if a snatch this trailer off the blocks and pull it to the end of my driveway? Before this new ownership they had no problem delivering here...

I've dropped it to three stars until improvements are made. Admittedly it is better under the new owners, including the bar and draft beer selection and drink specials but there are too many food consistency issues for me to give it more. Staff is getting better at customer service and the food is slowly improving. I am going to keep coming back because I really want it to be awesome.

Good selection of beer with good pizza at a fair price. Very nice outdoor space. Great staff, very friendly. Great location in San Antonio.

Great food. Until the Corona is over you may want to bring your own fork and knife especially if you get the calzone.

Gourmet pizza right here in San Antonio. We are so blessed to have this AMAZING establishment here. The food is phenomenal, the staff’s smiles brighten your day, and I LOVE that there’s the TouchTunes so I can laugh and reminisce or jam out to my favorite songs. This place really has all their ducks in a row and I can’t say enough times that this is my favorite pizza on the face of the earth. Their wings are awesome and you MUST try the Mac N Cheese bites. They come with this spicy ranch type sauce that is totally killer. I’ve made it my mission to eat Al’s at least once a week and haven’t messed up yet 😂 See you there tomorrow!

I ordered a large pepperoni. The pizza was....ok. Wasn't bad. Definitely not famous by any means. Lacks in cheese. Skip the cheese bread. It's super bland. No flavor whatsoever. I mean it looks really good with more cheese than the pizza and taste like nothing. Not a hint of any spices or garlic. Even then cheese was flavorless. I threw out the rest after about 3 pieces. The food just wasn't worth the $25. I work out here in Dade City. If this is all they have outside of a chain restaurant well... That kinda sucks. Person over the phone was friendly and the delivery girl. The food just lacks.... Everything. Hate to say this but my money would have been better spent at Marco's Sorry Al. The most flavorless cheese bread ever made. Not ordering again. Reading into the reviews it seems like the shop is riding on reviews from a different owner. That the quality declined.

Ordered a calzone and it was dry. There was barely any ricotta cheese in it. The cheese that was put in it wasn't goey, It was like a block of cheese was in it. Didn't taste good. Very disappointed.

Great little pizza place. The staff is super nice and fast. The pizza is amazing and I definitely suggest getting the garlic cheese bread!! Oh my what a dish. TV's all around and great prices too. I would have given 5 stars but there is long one bathroom for the whole place. Not a big deal when slow but when things pick up this will be an issue. They do deliver as well.
